Spring Cleaning and Mindfulness

Spring has arrived!!
The warmer weather is a favorite part of spring. While seeing trees and flowers blooming and enjoying longer days of sunlight are also seen as positives.
The increased light also triggers the release of serotonin, a brain chemical that helps us feel happier.
but did you know this can also improve your mental health as well?
It's a perfect time to declutter your home during the spring season.
One of the best things to start with when beginning your mindfulness journey is organizing and decluttering your personal living space.
Eliminating external clutter improves your mood, reduces stress and anxiety, and more.

Don’t know where to start with spring cleaning?
Start by taking a pause and looking around. Do you like what you see? If not, it’s time to declutter.
Decluttering not only allows you to get rid of the things you don’t need but it removes old energy that no longer resonates, making space for the new.
To begin, start small and keep going. As you pick up items, reflect on each item: “Do I need this? Do I love this?” when's the last time I used this item? what purpose does this item serve me?
Take your time, it doesn’t matter how long it takes. The fact that you get started is the most important part. Pace yourself by starting with one room at a time- You may want to choose a smaller area and work up from there.
There are many free "Spring Checklists" available online if you're not sure where to start.

Sometimes it's a small change, but a tidier space can make for a more relaxed mind.
The sense of control that people get from reducing clutter and getting organized can inspire them to make bigger changes.
Decluttering can also help with releasing the past and moving forward into the future.
If you're looking for an easy way to reduce stress, decluttering your environment may be a good place to start.
